Milwaukee Shepherd Express review:
The Dreamland Faces repertoire consists of both “old-time” and modern
standards, as well as originals, but chances are
you haven’t heard them
quite like this. The richness and depth of the group’s arrangements,
the compelling contrast
between each player’s individual approaches to
accordion, not to mention McCormick’s fluid, pitch-perfect facility on
the
saw, are undeniable. Even within the realm of accordion-driven
acts, the duo has a distinctive musical voice, which is
characterized
by what one might describe as a “deadpan lightheartedness.”

"Dreamland Faces Skirt the Fringes of Popular Music"
Rochester NY City Newspaper Review
"Like a life-sized music box, Dreamland Faces is hauntingly beautiful
and odd. It’s vaudeville, it’s cabaret, and it’s nostalgic. Spin the
band’s new self-titled CD and you can practically smell moth balls and
grandma’s perfume. Sawer/vocalist Andy McCormick cops to a bullhorn to
add the Cantor to his candor. Karen Majewicz squeezes the box while
ringing out hearts with her achingly beautiful warble. The
instrumentation is minimal and heartbreaking, the music breathtaking
and timeless. Could it be that the saw is tonally the perfect
instrument?"
